Hello Everyone…
Just wanted to let you know we arrived safely. We only have Wi-Fi so not all places have it.
Yesterday we arrived in Quito, Ecuador. It was a very long flight but we made our way. We stayed just the night as the weather was calling for rain all week and being so high up (over 9000 feet above sea level) I found it quite hard to breath. So we got up this morning and rented a car and headed to our next destination.
After a 7 hour (very interesting) drive, we arrived at our next destination in Bahia de Caraquez. Hours were spent driving up and down luscious mountains with vast views that make the Rocky’s seem small at times. Many villages and huts, chickens, dogs and goats just walk along roadside so you just get used to it.
On the way down we stopped in a small town that translates to New Israel. There we had lunch – chicken, rice and baked beans. It came to $3 for both of us. Cheap yes, but mind you it was cooked over coals on a tray on the side walk and when I went to go use the bathroom, well, I went out back, past 3 dogs and a heard of chickens to a cinder block shed with no light a hole in the door, no toilet seat and no sink…thank Gawd I just had to go pee! LOL
We’re staying at the Coco Bongo Hostile. Very nice people and across the road is the ocean. Tomorrow we’ll get up and start touring around a bit. It’s been two solid days of “travel” so now we’ll take some time to look around a bit and get a feel for things.
Hope all is well with you everyone. Will send another note at the next point of our adventure.
Love to all…
What a great trip!
